9 Tips for Better Life Balance

1. Better Life Balance
Life seems to be getting crazier. Corporations are cutting back staff and making employees who don’t get cut do a lot more. Creating a better life balance is about freeing up more time and figuring out what is worth spending your time on. It’s about knowing what you need to get done and what can be held off until later. Use this guide to help you figure out the right mix of freeing up time and knowing what’s important. Although it’s not likely you will ever find perfect life balance, keeping it as a goal can help provide a healthy perspective.
2. Determine Your Priorities
People put way too much importance on everything that happens. By figuring out what the priorities are, you can concentrate on working on those first. It’s not to say that you should bury the other items, but you need to know which are the most important. You should do this for both work and home life.
3. Learn Better Ways to Do Your Job
People get into a routine and will continue that routine even if it’s not the most efficient means. If you take some time to learn more about your job, you may find ways to streamline what you do. This will save you significant amounts of time. Most people chalk this off to being too busy even to try. That’s a mistake.
4. Find Ways to Automate
Although there can be too much automation, you should try to do this as much as possible. If you have mundane tasks that you can offload to some process, you never have to deal with that process again. It frees you up to do more important items.
5. Delegate and Outsource
Get others to do some of your work for you. If you are not in a position to do this, then talk to your boss about outsourcing. People are under the false impression that outsourcing is only for small businesses or work-at-home businesses. However, there is no reason why you can’t use it yourself. Try not to go overboard as you will need to manage the time of the outsourcers.
6. Get Rid of Your Perfectionist Ways
Perfectionists are not doing themselves any favors by spending more time than is needed on projects. In fact, the time you are spending getting it right, your competition has already released a new project or product. You need to do quality work, no doubt. But, you need to figure out when you can pull the plug and call it done. Otherwise, you are going to be forever chasing your competitors.
7. Don’t Ignore Family
There’s always some kind of way to make money. Family, however, won’t be there forever. Always keep that in mind when you are trying to work out a better balance in your life. The internet has given us all the ability to make more money quickly and where we can do it all from our homes. Spend time with your family and always be there for them when they need you.
8. Be the Best at What You Do
This may seem a bit cliché, and you’ve likely heard it most of your life. But, the truth is, when you are great at what you do, you will be given more leeway when you need it. While there aren’t too many people who are indispensable, the more you are needed, the fewer people will want to let you go.
9. Take a Firm Stand
Along the same lines of being great at what you do, take a firm stand about what you want. If you want to spend more time with family, then do so. Let them know that is what you are doing. You’ll often find that when you speak up, you will get what you want and people will get used to your terms. If a company is too rigid to let that happen, it may be time to move on.
