Why Do They Call It Dump Cake?

You guessed it! Because you “dump” the ingredients into a baking dish and throw it in the oven. Usually, dump cake recipes require no stirring or even a mixing bowl. A traditional 3 ingredient dump cake layers pie filling or canned fruit with yellow cake mix and butter. Our pumpkin dump cake incorporates eggs, so we figure we should give them a good stir first.
